Our Program

No two days are the same at Raceview Congregational Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning experiences to the interests and abilities of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Raceview Kindy believes that the provision of skills is essential to fostering a foundation for lifelong learning. Children develop significantly in their physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual aspects in these early years, and their early learning experiences deeply influence their future attitudes to learning.

The Kindergarten programs value each child as a capable and competent learner. The programs emphasise Learning through Play. Play provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. When children play with other children they create social groups, test out ideas, challenge each other’s thinking and build new understandings. Play provides a supportive environment where children can ask questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking. Play can expand children’s thinking and enhance their desire to know and to learn. The staff provide ample opportunities for children to learn through play in both Big and Little Kindy.

What We Offer

Curicculum

As a Queensland Government approved Kindergarten provider we use the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline form the basis for our lesson planning.

Incursions

Our programs includes various incursions (included in the fees) including Scientist Dr Joe, Ocean Stars, Henny Penny chicken hatching and Geckos Wildlife.

Speech Pathologist

We also employ a qualified Speech Pathologist (at no cost to parents) to conduct a speech assessment of each child in their Kindy enrolment. The Speech Pathologist provides each family with a report of their child’s assessment.

Learning Outcomes

Identity

Children have a strong sense of identity.

Connection

Children are connected with and contribute
to their world.

Wellbeing

Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

Confidence

Children are confident and involved learners.

Communication

Children are effective communicators.

We encourage parent participation in order to foster relationships and enhance our knowledge of individual children’s learning and development. We love having parent input into our program each day. We display a learning journal of the happenings each day, slide shows of photos for children to discuss with parents, displays of children’s art and investigations, and portfolios for each individual child.

Both small and large group experiences are provided to enable children to make social connections and extend their thinking in investigations, language, literacy and numeracy. Music, song, dance, instruments, poetry, stories, drama, listening and discussion may take place in large group times, Quiet and reflective practices also take place in large and small group times to help children plan, extend their ideas, and share their discoveries.

Our program references the national curriculum- The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and C and K’s Curriculum Approach, ‘Listening and Learning Together’
